The typical wines of the region are Trebbiano, Sangiovese, Malvasia, Greco and Aglianico. However, Procida, Vesuvius, and Lacryma Christi are also produced in the area. The famous Sorrento limoncello is made with fragrant Amalfi lemons, which are also featured on the decorations of the ceramics of Vietri sul Mare. More than 40,000 hectares of vineyards, with magnificent vineyards at the foot of Vesuvius, on the islands of Ischia and Capri, on the Sorrento Peninsula, in the provinces of Caserta, Benevento and Avellino. The most important red wines are Aglianico, which gives rise to Taurasi, Aleatico, and Piedirosso from the island of Ischia and the area surrounding Naples.

The most famous wine in the area is probably Falanghina, which is made from a native white grape that has a fruity flavor. The first bottle of Falanghina was produced in 1979 by the Mustilli Winery of Sant'Agata dei Goti. He wanted to produce a unique wine using Falanghina grapes; he used bunches of a single crop in the vinification process to produce a “wine in purity”. It was a bet and he won it, as proven by the numerous awards obtained by the Falanghine Mustilli wine, which soon became famous in the area of Sant’Agata. The cellar of the Mustilli company is situated 15 meters deep underground, beneath the family palace. You can visit the cellar and have a wine-tasting experience there.
