Castello del Valentino

Castello di Racconigi
The Savoy Royal family used to spend its holidays in this imposing castle built by architect Guarino Guarini for the princess of Carignano. It is surrounded by a majestic park and represents one of the most important examples in Europe of the sensitivity towards nature and scenery that prevailed during Romanticism.

Castello di Rivoli
Starting in the 11th century as a military stronghold, Rivoli Castle is now home to the Museum of Contemporary Art which has a prestigious permanent collection and temporary major exhibitions in an original historical and architectural context. Owned by the Savoy since 1247, the castle was the first court of the Duchy of Savoy. In the 1600s it was transformed into a courtly residence by Carlo and Amedeo di Castellamonte.

Castello Ducale di Aglie
The castle's original building is thought to date back to the 12th century. Between 1830 and 1840, the park was extended to its current size of 34 hectares and radically altered by Xavier Kurten in the "English" landscape style, discarding green symmetries for a Romantic-style layout, which can still be seen today. In 1939, the castle was sold to the state and turned into a museum, retaining its structure and furnishings.

Reggia di Venaria Reale
The Reggia of 80,000 square meters was commissioned by Charles Emmanuel II of Savoy in the mid-17th century and is a jewel of the Baroque Piedmontese Baroque. The Great Gallery offers an almost dizzying array of frescoes, stuccoes, tapestries, and pilasters, a special light filters through the huge windows and oval openings.

Mazze' Castle
The fortified complex of Mazzè stands on top of a hill, on the right bank of the Dora Baltea, in a decidedly strategic position, in the medieval period, because it is on the border between the Canavese and Vercelli lands.It consists of two castles, called "big castle" and "small castle", which share the large park on several levels that surrounds the fortified complex.
