Famous even beyond the regional borders, the tortellini of Valeggio are also called "Knot of love" because their shape is similar to a knot. Their peculiarity is the very thin dough that makes them light and unique compared to any other stuffed pasta. The recipe is almost a secret, but it is possible to taste them during the Festa del Nodo d'Amore (festival of the “knot of love” ) which takes place every year in Borghetto di Valeggio sul Mincio.

 

WINES, FOOD AND OLIVE OIL


Nosiola, Merlot, Cabernet, and Vino Santo in the northern areas; Classico Groppello della Valtenesi in the southern vineyards of Bardolino and Lugana. A large number of wine varieties, nationally and internationally renowned, are cultivated in the area.

The most typical product is the extra virgin olive oil, renowned for its lightness and delicacy, which goes well with freshwater fish from the lake and traditional country dishes of meat and polenta.

The Alto Garda area is home to unique lemon houses, which cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
